Reaching Out – To Protect Unborn Children

During the night of February 9th/10th I was awoken twice around 4am, by the ‘sound’ of a baby’s hand grasping in the dark, for help. and on each occasion I reached out – The tiny baby grasped my finger, seeking my help. The imagery was clear to me – that the child was ‘crying-out’ for help to anybody willing to give that help. I was willing. The trusting innocent child took my hand.

WIll you join us in reaching out your hand to protect the most vulnerable of all people in our society – our children & grandchildren.

It is defies all reason to state that before their natural delivery date – the mother of the child is not expecting a baby! Science confirms she is. Ask any of the 65.909 mothers who gave birth in Ireland in 2015 – if they were expecting a baby or not.

TThis is a KEY moment in Irish history. As a country, and as an island, we have not adopted the terrible practice of other western countries – of having abortion as a part of ‘normal life’ in our country.

Ireland is a UNIQUE country. We care for the poor and needy and distressed as part of our social fabic and natural culture. 13.5% of the population have some form of disability (643,131 in 2016 Census) and we look after them very well. (Remember the Special Olympics)

We know that it is by giving to others, (especially those who are vulnerable), that we receive, and we Irish people intuitively know and practice this very well.

It's almost back to school time pic for Aug eZine

Some Facts worth Considering

(1) No country in history has introduced abortion into their country through a vote of the people (Referendum)
(2) Jesus said ….
(3) The Universal Declaration of Human Rights
(4) The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child
(5) Lisbon Treaty – 2009
(6) Mother Theresa said ….

  • IF we as a nation and a people – were to vote to introduce abortion into this country – by accepting the Governments will to repeal the 8th Amendment, – we would be the first nation in history, where the PEOPLE voted to INTRODUCE Abortion. All previous cases of abortion introduction have been approved through Parliaments and /or advanced through the Judiciary.
  • Jesus said (John 10:10) “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly
  • The Universal Declaration of Human Rights(1948) states in Article 3 – “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.”
  • The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989) states in its Preamble “the child, by reason of his physical and mental immaturity, needs special safeguards and care, including appropriate legal protection, before as well as after birth”,”
  • Ireland got a ‘Special Exemption’ (Protocol No 35) in the Lisbon Treaty (2009) for Article 40.3.3 – as it was clearly understood then the Right to Life of the unborn was a Core Value in Ireland
  • If you take away the Right to Life – all other ‘Rights’ are meaningless
  • Mother Theresa – speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast in 1994 said “The Greatest Destroyer of Love and Peace is Abortion. The child is God’s gift to the family. Each child is created in the special image and likeness of God for greater things — to love and to be loved.”

The Sacredness of Life – Get Involved. Speak-Up!

These past few weeks, speakers from the Love-Both / Pro-Life Campaign, the Director of Evangelical Alliance Ireland – Nick Park, and I have been visiting and speaking at gathering of church folks and Pro-Life folks in a number of centres around the country. These are continuing and it is inspiring to see the level of interest there is in both the importance of the 8th Amendment, and how people might get involved.

Director Nick has done a magnificent job of addressing the Human Rights issues of the 8th Amendment, which he covers in detail in both is books. The Pro-Life Campaign speakers have outlined their involvement since 1981 and how many lives have been savedsince 1994, and how to get involved in the campaign to retain the BENEFITS of the 8th Amendment. I have been closing the meetings with an exhortation to pray, to act and to get involved – for good reason. We have been to eight main centres to deliver this message in February an in March we plan to get to a further ten locations. If you’d like to know more – just contact me.

PLEASE HELP !

Till next week – every blessing to you and your family
